Kavik is easy-going and clever, but also deeply distrustful of strangers. He was abandoned by his tribe for being born with two tails - a sign of the god of death, Te'Ek'Mut's, favor - and left alone as a young pup to die in the wilderness. It was only due to Kavik's cunning and determination that he survived. His quick thinking and ability to set aside his pride allowed him to scavenge meals made by larger predators until he was big enough to teach himself how to hunt small game. Because of his solitary childhood, Kavik remains a solitary figure. He's very introverted and prefers the company of his thoughts to any other creature. He feigns friendships as easily as he draws breath, and can be very manipulative to achieve his own goals. He's often denigrated as a "sidekick" to those encounter him, never being seen as worthy of his own story but merely a partition of someone else's. This perception of Kavik is wrong, however. Behind the walls built over a lifetime, the coyote possesses a heart of gold and will always do the right thing when matters become more serious than simply finding his next meal. He's taken a fancy to Evy, the whimsical wolf that shares his forest, but a lifetime's experience of social-isolation means that he rarely shares more than a passing 'hello' to the one person thus far that's been able to earn his loyalty. |
